Occupational therapists play a key role in identifying barriers in the home that limit participation in daily activities. OTs are highly skilled at understanding how the environment impacts a client’s ability to perform occupations. Additionally, our therapists are highly qualified Certified Living in Place Professionals. An occupational therapist is an integral part of the home modification process through our understanding of how balance, endurance, vision, cognition and strength influence a person and their safety in the home. At Elliot Home Modifications, an OT is always the first person you will work with to ensure that the home modifications are right for you.
During your home modification project, we evaluate your current level of function, discuss goals for optimal living and then create a safe home design that prevents falls and improves mobility. Examples include proper grab bar placement and installation, no step entryways, assistive technology, wheelchair ramp evaluation, lighting and much more.
